U.S. job growth accelerated in October while the unemployment rate ticked higher as more Americans sought work, offering signs of a steady but slow recovery as candidates make a final push before Tuesday's presidential election. U.S. nonfarm payrolls increased by a seasonally adjusted 171,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said Friday.
