Burberry boss Angela Ahrendts to be made an honorary dame before moving to Apple

The American has led the fashion house since 2006 and helped turn it into one of the country’s most successful companies with a stock market value of £6.3billion. 

She will be presented with an honorary DBE (Dame Commander of the British Empire) by Business Secretary Vince Cable though as a not a British citizen she is not entitled to use the title Dame. 

Cable said: “She has become a landmark figure in business and like many successful women in Britain today, a powerful role model to the next generation of British talent.” 

Angela Ahrendts is due to step down this summer to become head of retail for US technology giant Apple.
