STANDARD Life has found a new corporate match after signing up Andy Murray in a three-year sponsorship deal.

The life and pensions giant will see its logo sported by Murray during every tournament he plays in over the period, starting when the Scot begins the defence of his Wimbledon crown on June 23.

The Edinburgh-based company said Murray, currently ranked number five in the world, competes in events held in all of its key markets.

Murray's long-running sponsorship with Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) ended several months ago, though a spokesman for Standard Life said the new deal was not a direct replacement.

Standard Life chief executive David Nish said: "He is an inspirational individual and we are excited to be beginning this relationship with him."

Standard Life said Murray's social media presence, which includes about 2.54 million followers on Twitter, allied to his participation in 16 to 18 major events each year, will significantly add to its brand exposure.

Murray, who relaunched his Cromlix House Hotel near his hometown of Dunblane earlier this year, said: "I'm very excited to be working with Standard Life.

"I've taken time to find the right partner, as it was important to me to find a company that shares the same values and also understands the demands of my sport."
