Controversial bosses of TalkTalk and Experian appointed to Bank of England's governing body

The controversial bosses of TalkTalk and Experian have been appointed to the Bank of England’s governing body.

Dido Harding will join the Bank’s Court alongside Don Robert, chairman of credit checker Experian, and Drax boss Dorothy Thompson.

The Treasury announced that former senior banker Tim Frost has been reappointed for another term at the Bank of England’s Court. The three independent executives replace Lloyds’ Scotland managing director Lady Susan Rice, BAE Systems chairman Sir Roger Carr and former Financial Services Authority chairman Lord Turner.

Under Harding, TalkTalk won Money Mail’s ‘Wooden Spoon’ award for the worst customer service in the UK in 2011 and 2012.

Robert has also attracted controversy. At Experian’s annual shareholder meeting last week, 30 per cent of investors failed to back his elevation from chief executive to chairman. The was resisted by the Investment Management Association, the Institute of Directors and Pirc.
