The Baillie Gifford Japan Trust PLC (the "Company") has made a successful application to the UK Listing Authority for a block listing of 8,337,992 ordinary shares of 5 pence each to be admitted to the Official List of the UKLA and to the London Stock Exchange for the shares to be admitted to trading on its main market for listed securities.

Shares will be issued under the block listing to satisfy continuing demand that cannot be met through the secondary market, and the proceeds of share issuance under the block listing will be used for investment in accordance with the Company's investment policy.

The block listing is expected to become effective at 8.00am on Friday 28 July 2017.
