LONDON (ShareCast) - BATM Advanced Communications, the designer and producer of telecom systems and medical laboratory diagnostic systems, has signed an agreement with US mobile communications devices giant Motorola Mobility to provide carrier ethernet equipment.
BATM's Telco Systems unit will deliver Motorola branded products to Motorola's cable network oeprators market. The products to be provided by BATM include aggregation switches/routers and demarcation products.
"The combination of Motorola and Telco Systems provides complete solutions for commercial services that enable cable operators to uniquely leverage their HFC [hybrid fibre-coaxial] fibre infrastructure while minimising the number of fibres required to provide commercial services," explained Joe Cozzolino, senior vice president and general manager of Network Infrastructure at Motorola Mobility.
BATM's house broker, finnCap, gave the deal the thumbs-up, though it acknowledged that the deal is a small one that will not require its full-year forecasts to be upgraded.
"However, together with the tier 1 supplier OEM [original equipment manufacturer] agreement announced last month, it demonstrates the new partnerships and routes to market that BATM is forging to replace the
revenues lost from Nokia Siemens Networks," finnCap Lorne Daniel said.
The market liked the deal, also; the shares shot up 2.375p to 18.50p on the day of the announcement.
