FTSE 250 movers: Spots knocked off Domino

Date: Wednesday 28 Mar 2012

LONDON (ShareCast) - Titanium feedstock miner, Kenmare Resources, leapt on news of a sharp increase in revenues and a return to the black in 2011.

Revenues during 2011 increased to $167.5m from $91.6m in 2010, while profit after tax was $23.7m versus a loss of $16.3m in the prior year.

Gold producer Petropavlovsk also rose after seeing revenue double in 2011 on the back of higher production and soaring gold prices. The group also said it expects production to rise a further 8% in 2012 and admitted that forecast was "conservative".

African energy firm Ophir was another high riser after it raised £151m through a placing of shares at 495p each to help finance its expanding drilling programme. The firm said the funds would also help it to maintain its equity position in its successful Tanzania sites.

Meanwhile, gold miner Centamin dropped on the back of fuel subsidy fears. Given the economic challenges facing Egypt at the moment the company has been forced to get half of its fuel on the international market but negotiations are ongoing with the government over future subsidies.

Domino's Pizza also took a hit after like-for-like (LFL) sales growth in the 13 weeks to March 25th was 3.5%, a slow-down from the 3.7% growth rate seen in the first seven weeks of the year, and lower than LFL growth of 4.2% seen in the corresponding period of 2011.
