DIRECTV Overview

The DIRECTV Group provides digital television entertainment services via geostationary satellites to about 16.8 million customers in the U.S. and over 4.8 million customers in Latin America. Its first satellite was launched in December 1993, the latest (its 13th wholly dedicated to the company, though not all are still in operation) in March 2008.
