PGN Overview

Progress Energy is a holding company that, through its subsidiaries, which includes two electric utilities, engages in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity to more than 2.8m customers in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida, and in the transportation, distribution and sale of natural gas in North Carolina. The company’s Rail Services business engages in various rail and railcar-related services, while other units carrying out non-regulated business include telecommunications and holding company operations.
