Big Lots Inc. Overview
Formerly known as Consolidated Stores, the company changed its name to Big Lots following a rebranding exercise in 2001. Now, as America’s largest broadline closeout retailer, the Columbus, Ohio-based company operates more than 1,400 retail stores, serving 46 states and generating annual revenues in excess of $4bn. Founded in 1967, Big Lots now employs more than 45,000 associates across the United States. (Closeouts are new items that are clearance items, overstocks, shelf pulls or merchandise that has been replaced by newer models/styles.)
