Dynegy is a provider of electricity, natural gas and natural gas liquids to customers throughout the United States. The company has power generation facilities in 12 states, while the natural gas liquids business is primarily engaged in the gathering and processing of natural gas and the fractionation, storage, transportation and marketing of natural gas liquids. In February 2004, Dynegy announced the sale of its regulated energy delivery business, Illinois Power, to Ameren Corporation for $2.3bn, including the assumption of $1.8bn of debt. The transaction is conditional upon approvals from governmental and regulatory agencies, but is expected to complete by the end of 2004.
