GGP Overview

A Real Estate Investment Trust based in Chicago, General Growth owns, has an interest in, or manages more than 230 regional malls in 45 states as at 2008. It also develops and sells land in Master Planned Community development projects. After going private, its second IPO took place in 1993. Its acquisition in 2004 of the The Rouse Company was the largest real estate merger in U.S. history.
