HMA Overview

Health Management Associates owns and operates general acute care hospitals and psychiatric hospitals in non-urban communities throughout the United States, although primarily in the southeast and southwest. The company, as of 30 September 2003, operated 47 hospitals, consisting of 45 acute care hospitals with a total of 6,337 licensed beds and two psychiatric hospitals with a total of 142 licensed beds.
