US equities have opened lower today (Dow Jones: -109, Nasdaq Comp.: -18, S&P 500: -11), with average falls of nearly 1%, on the back of more tensions in the Eurozone. Some market commentary is also highlighting the stark warning offered today by the Governor of the Bank of England, Sir Mervyn King, who indicated that, “there is no meaningful way to quantify the most extreme outcomes associated with developments in the euro area.”
