Founded in 1901, United States Steel Corporation manufactures and sells a wide variety of steel sheet, plate, tubular and tin products, coke, and taconite pellets. Its European operations, including US Steel Kosice, located in Slovakia, and US Steel Balkan, located in Serbia, produce and sell steel mill products. The Pittsburgh-based company is also involved in a number of other businesses, including coal mining, mineral resources management, transportation, real estate development, technology licensing, engineering and consulting services, and leasing and financial services.
