Soft drinks company Britvic said last month that trading performance in the second half has been better than expected, with the exception of Ireland, where conditions have been more difficult. The two factors should balance each other out, allowing the company to hit full-year profit expectations. US banking group Citigroup is expecting revenue growth of just under 5%.

1630: What started as a modest decline by recent standards turned into a heavy slump after shares nose-dived on Wall Street. Data showing monthly retail sales fell by the most in three years sent US stocks tumbling.
Miners were the heaviest fallers as metals prices slid. ENRC lost more than a quarter of its value and its Kazakh compatriot Kazakhmys also slumped, as did the likes of Anglo American, Xstrata and Vedanta.
Copper prices fell by the maximum allowed in one day in Shanghai on concerns an economic slowdown will hit China's imports of the red metal.
