Acal FY profit up 14%

Date: Monday 04 Jun 2007

LONDON (ShareCast) - Electronic components manufacturer Acal said annual pre-tax profit rose 14% as demand for its electronics and IT solutions products increased.

Pre-tax profit of ongoing activities rose to £9.8m in the year ended 31 March 2007 while sales for the year increased 1.55 to £260.9m.

The group, which sold its Air Conditioning & Refrigeration business in July last year, said today that it would consider strategic acquisitions.

It also warned of weaker demand at its Parts Services division.

"The growth in sales and profits of our two largest divisions, Electronics and IT Solutions, has been very much in line with our plans,'' said Acal a company statement.

However its Parts Services business "suffered this year as a result of weaker demand in the first half and a significant slowdown on a major contract.''

Acal will pay a final dividend of 14.7p per share, bringing the total for the year to 21.9p, up 1.4% from the year before.
