The United Kingdom’s trade deficit with non-EU countries increased to £5.3bn during the month of November, according to the latest data out this morning from HM Revenue&Customs.
The UK’s Non-EU exports decreased by £0.3bn (2.4%) compared to October 2011, to £12.4bn. Compared to November 2010 exports increased by £1.3bn (11.7%).
Non EU imports meanwhile decreased by £0.1bn (0.8%) compared to October 2011, to
£17.7bn. Compared to November 2010 imports increased by £1.1bn (6.6%).
Imports from China fell by 11.1% on the month (to £2.86bn) in November, while those from the US decreased by 3.4% to £2.71bn. Purchases from Norway, on the other hand, rose by 10.6% on the month.
The size of the deficit increased slightly compared to October 2011, by 3.2%, and has decreased from November 2010 by 3.5%.
