LONDON (ShareCast) - Shares in Abraxus Investments, the property-investment group rose as it reported a narrowing in first-half pre-tax losses. Losses fell to £30,000 from £161,000 the previous year, helped by cost cuts.

Meanwhile Monterrico Metals which explores precious metals also made its way higher after it said it has already started a feasibility study on a project in Peru.

Lastly packaging group MacFarlane saw its shares rise after it said the pension fund of BT holds 6.1m shares of the company.
