LONDON (ShareCast) - Platinum price hit new record highs in London on Tuesday morning on supply fears over disruptions in South Africa.

The metal has gained more than 30% in the last year, heightened by the recent power shortages in South Africa, which has hit major platinum miners such as Anglo Platinum and Impala Platinum.

The US crude and gold deliveries were closed on Monday because of a US national holiday.
