Francois Hollande, the socialist candidate to the French presidency, presented his proposals on Thursday. Along the lines of Barack Obama's own plans, Hollande plans to increase taxes on the rich and impose financial sector regulation in order to separate banks' speculative activity from the financing of the economy.
In a press conference to present his 60 major policy proposals, Hollande said that he wants to comfort and protect the middle-class. He announced a tax rate increase from 41% to 45% on income of €150,000 or more.
