Samaras to begin negotiations for new government

Antonis Samaras, leader of conservative party New Democracy, the party which polled the most votes in Sunday's general election in Greece, is set to begin negotiations to form a coalition government.

Samaras is expected to get support from Socialist party Pasok in order to obtain an absolute majority in government.

Greece's potential new prime minister will meet with president Karolos Papoulias, who will give the official order for Samaras to try to form a government. Afterwards, Samaras will meet with Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras, who finished second in the elections. Finally, he will meet with Pasok leader Evangelos Venizelos, whose support may define the new government.
