Only one in four Germans want Greece in the Eurozone

Just a quarter of German citizens believe that Greece should remain in the Eurozone and receive more international assistance, according to a poll conducted by Financial Times-Harris.

Some 26% of Germans believe that Greece will be unable to return the bailout funds that they have received. Half of the Germans polled say that the country will be unable to reform their economy in order to no longer be dependent on international asistance.

The poll reveals the difficult situation in which German Chancellor Angela Merkel must navigate. She is facing increased opposition at home while European partners are pressuring to give Greece more time to satisfy its bailout commitments.
