LONDON (ShareCast) - British Airways saw passenger numbers decline between April last year and this year, citing the chaotic opening of Heathrow’s fifth terminal as one of the reasons for the fall.
Passenger numbers in April fell to 2,592 from 2,813 the same month last year.
“In April some impact was felt, particularly on transfer traffic, from the move to Terminal 5 and the operational problems in the early part of the month,” the airline said.
The airline was also affected by market conditions, BA said, with non-premium traffic falling even as premium traffic rose.
It said operations at Terminal 5 are continuing to improve.
“A normal schedule has operated for more than three weeks and more than 1.4m passengers have travelled through the terminal,” BA said.
