LONDON (ShareCast) - Vodafone rose and lifted the index as investors digested a deal with MySpace to allow footage from Vodafone-sponsored music events to be shown the social network's website.
The new service, Vodafone Music Reporter, will be offered in Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, and will also feature user-generated content, the telecoms group said in a statement.
Rio Tinto rose on reports that steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal may be interested in taking a stake to secure supplies of iron ore.
ITV is the heaviest faller after saying its new video-on-demand service may be delayed. A trading update is due later this week.
