LONDON (ShareCast) - Engineer Balfour Beatty has secured its second Public/Private Partnership contract in the “Building Schools for the Future” programme.
The company said financial close has been achieved on Phase 1 of the £150m Islington Schools Public/Private Partnership programme.
The contract will be operated by Transform Schools, Balfour Beatty’s education concession company, with construction work carried out by Balfour Beatty Construction and Balfour Kilpatrick.
The long term facilities management will be provided by Balfour unit Haden Building Management.
Under the contract Transform Schools has incorporated, in joint venture with Islington and BSFi, a Local Education Partnership to be known as Transform Islington.
Phase 1 of the project will entail the delivery of new and refurbished accommodation to two schools, along with facilities management and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) managed services. Additionally, a new Private Finance Initiative school will be built.
