LONDON (ShareCast) - Camera peripherals specialist Vitec lifted first half sales by 24%, with underlying revenues 5% better, despite adverse currency effects.

Imaging & Staging sales rose by 10%, Vitec said, helped by the bringing in-house of the UK distribution and the progress of new products that have been recently brought to market, though the weakening US dollar impacted margins.

Broadcast Systems sales grew around 50%, with a strong performance from the Camera Dynamics business unit and from RF Systems.

Vitec added that its view of the prospects for the full year remains unchanged and, overall, it expects continued progress in 2008.
