LONDON (ShareCast) - Businessman are still travelling according to travel specialist Hogg Robinson despite the tough economic situation, though they may have to go economy rather than business.
"Trading has generally held up well despite the uncertainty created by the prevailing macroeconomic conditions. Demand for our managed travel services was in line with our expectations. On a like-for-like basis, client revenue was up by around 3% from the prior year. This increase is primarily due to trading with our existing managed clients," it said.
"In the first quarter we saw little evidence to suggest that the overall level of business travel is reducing significantly. Certainly, route patterns for business travellers are changing with cheaper alternatives being sought, but so far our clients are still travelling," it added in the update.
Chief executvie David Ratcliffe added he remains cautiously optimistic about prospects for growth in the full year.
