Re: Fire at Swansea facility

Pure Wafer plc ("Pure Wafer" or "the Company"), one of the leading global providers of high quality silicon wafer reclaim services to many of the world's largest semiconductor manufacturers and foundries as an integral part of their cost control programmes, announces that its Wafer Reclaim facility in Swansea has suffered damage following a fire which is believed to have broken out at around 9am yesterday.

The full extent of the damage and the cause is still to be assessed but it is anticipated that production at the site will be affected.

The facility operates around the clock and all staff present at the facility when the fire broke out were successfully evacuated with no reported injuries or persons missing.

Richard Howells, Chief Executive of Pure Wafer commented:

"Although the fire has caused significant damage to the site, the facility is fully and comprehensively insured and once a full assessment of the damage has been completed, we will endeavour to resume full production as soon as practicable.     

"We are putting into operation a full contingency plan which includes switching, where possible, some current production to our other facility in Prescott, Arizona, thereby minimising disruption to customers and limiting any financial impact on trading".

A further announcement will be made in due course, once a full assessment of the damage has been carried out and the impact on production downtime has been ascertained.
