Finance ministers leave ECOFIN meeting, Dijsselbloem still hopeful
Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis has left the meeting of European Union (ECOFIN) finance ministers and is now back at his hotel, according to a report from Sky News' Ed Conway.
He is scheduled to leave for Athens tonight, Conway points out.
On his way out from the venue Eurogroup president, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, indicated he still hopes Greece will return to the negotiating table.
At a press conference today, held in the wake of yesterday's failed negotiations at the Eurogroup meeting in Brussels, Varoufakis expressed optimism that an agreement will be reached in the end.
"I have no doubt negotiations will continue in the next few days and that in the end there will be a deal which will be therapeutic for Greece," he said.
