Aer Lingus carried just over 1m passengers in July, an increase of 8.1%, but the Irish airline’s load factor - the number of passengers as a proportion of the number of available seats - dropped by 0.7%.
Passenger numbers rose to 1.03m in July compared with 955,000 the same time last year. This comprises of a 9.7% increase in passenger numbers on short haul and a 2.3% decrease on long haul routes.
The short haul load factor increased to 85.2% from 85.1%, despite a 13.7% increase in capacity year on year.
On long-haul flights, load factor fell to 81% from 82.7% after capacity increases of 3.4%.
