LONDON (ShareCast) - Detection and analysis technology company Avacta said products in its development portfolio remain on track for release within previously indicated timeframes.
Since the company’s update last month on development activities the company has achieved milestones on Optim, its flagship product, and on a prototype technology based around Raman spectroscopy.
Optim, an instrument which performs biophysical analysis on minute amounts of biological and biopharmaceutical samples, completed its alpha prototype stage and remains on track for launch later this year or early in 2009.
Customer feedback with the product’s intended target audience has been positive.
Development of a prototype technology aimed at improving the sensitivity of Raman spectroscopy has been completed.
Raman spectroscopy is a commonly used chemical identification and analysis technique, but commercialisation has hitherto been limited because of weak signals and interference from background noise.
Several parties have expressed interest in licensing Avacta’s Raman technology and discussions with these are ongoing.
Avacta’s contract services division continues to trade profitably and add to its range of customers.
Avacta expects full year results, due to be announced in October, will demonstrate a period of revenue growth, product development and industry collaboration.
