National Express Group said it had won two German rail contracts, weeks after being named the preferred bidder.
The contract were to run Rhine-Ruhr Express services in Cologne, Dusseldorf and Dortmund, in Germany's most populous region, the company said in a statement.
Together these two new contracts are expected to generate revenues of around €1 billion over their lifetimes, the transport operator said a statement.
Local officials had now confirmed National Express Group would start on the first contract in December 2018, and the second in December 2020
Both will run until December 2033, the company said.
Shares in National Express Group were down 1.96% to 306.80p at 16:08 BST.
