Polyus Gold becomes first Russian firm to join ICMM
The largest gold producer in Russia, Polyus Gold International earned membership to the International Council on Mining and Metals.

Polyus Gold said in a statement it is the first Russian company to join the organisation committed to responsible and sustainable development in the mining and minerals industries.
The gold producer first began preparations to join the organisation in 2011, and published an independently audited annual sustainable development report in order to join.
Other members of the council include BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Barrick, AngloGold Ashanti and GoldCorp.
Shares in Polyus Gold fell 2.25% to 174.75p at 1614 BST on Monday.
