Nomad and McCain both eyeing up Quorn
Nomad Foods and McCain Foods are reportedly preparing to go head-to-head with their bids for meat-free food manufacturer Quorn.
Current owner Exponent, a private equity firm, is preparing to send out its formal information packages to all potential bidders next week, the Telegraph was told.
Other names that are rumoured to be eyeing up the big name brand include Whitewave, the company behind the Alpro brand, Chinese group Charoen Pokphand Foods and private equity firms PAI, Bridgepoint and Cinven.
The chief executive of Nomad, which snapped up frozen food companies Birds Eye and Findus earlier this year, has previously spoken about the group's ability to fund further acquisitions.
Both Nomad and McCain are seen as being good fits for Quorn given their prominent position in the frozen food market.
