LONDON (ShareCast) - Construction firm Carillion secured two further contacts in the education sector worth around £100m.
It has been appointed preferred bidder for the £42m Basildon Academies contract by Essex County Council. This project involves refurbishment and new build work for two federated secondary schools.
Meanwhile, Aston University has awarded Carillion a £57m contract to build student accommodation in Birmingham. Work on the new accommodation will be completed by August 2010.
Commenting, Carillion chief executive, John McDonough, said: “Education is an important growth area for Carillion and we have established a leading position in this market, particularly in the Building Schools for the Future programme, which includes the new Academies.”
