LONDON (ShareCast) - VPhase has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with British Gas Services which might see its energy saving devices offered to all British Gas customers.
If independent testing of its devices goes well, British Gas will negotiate a non-exclusive supply and distribution deal for its electrical and heating installation and maintenance markets in the UK.
The first product, the VX1, is a low-cost voltage reduction and regulation system that VPhase claims could cut electricity bills by 10%. It would take two or three years to pay for itself if it saved £50 a year.
VPhase and British Gas-owner Centrica will also collaborate on how the products may be introduced to the North American market through Centrica’s Direct Energy business.
British Gas is Britain’s largest installer of domestic energy efficiency measures under the government’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) programme, fitting 17.3m energy efficient products in 2007.
