LONDON (ShareCast) - British Airways said it will drop its fuel surcharge from midnight, in line with crude prices slumping from record highs in the summer.
The group said for world traveller passengers, surcharge for long haul flight of more than nine hours will drop by £13 per flight to £96. Surcharge for long haul flights less than nine hours will fall by £10 per flight to £68.
For world traveller plus, the surcharge for flights longer than nine hours will drop by £6.50 and for less than nine hours, it will drop by £5.
Airlines have been under pressure to cut fuel surcharges as oil prices slump to under $80 a barrel from the peak of $147 reached in July.
BA's move follows Virgin Atlantic's announcement yesterday to cut its fuel surcharge for most of its passengers. Those changes will also take effect from midnight tonight.
