EU calls Asia-Europe summit for mid-October
European Union heads of state or government will meet with many of their Asian counterparts in mid-October, the European Council announced.
In a statement, the Council said the 12th bi-yearly Asia-Europe Meeting would be held in Brussels on 18-19, October, and would focus on trade and investment, connectivity, sustainable development and climate, and security issues including terrorism and non-proliferation.
According to the EU, the 30 European countries and their 23 counterparts from the Far East accounted for 55% of global trade and 60% of the world's economy and population.
