But with Theresa May reportedly on her way to Strasbourg in a last ditch attempt to wring concessions from Brussels, it was not yet clear what exactly MPs would be voting on.
Certainly, in the run-up to Tuesday almost all observers had appeared convinced that May was set for another defeat, but even then the range of possible outcomes continued to span everything from a 'no deal' Brexit to a second referendum.
Against that backdrop, a slew of data on foreign trade, manufacturing output, and monthly GDP covering the month of January were set for release on Tuesday, at 0930 GMT.
Expectations were for the various reports to point to a modest bounce-back in activity after a bruising December.
Nevertheless, in the background, and looking out to the Spring statement on the following day, expectations were for the OBR, on Wednesday, to slash its forecast for economic growth in the 2019/20 fiscal year.
There had also been increased 'market chatter' regarding a looming slowdown in hiring over the past month or so.
Meanwhile, in the States, a reading on consumer prices during the month of February was set for release at 1230 GMT.
Among the company's due to update markets on Tuesday was Domino's Pizza.
The company had already guided towards full-year profits before tax of roughly £94.0m and hosted a capital markets day focused on its UK operations on 29 January; hence, Numis's Richard Stuber believed investors would focus on its pipeline for store openings.
For his part, Stuber had penciled-in 50 openings for over the course of 2019.
Investors were also expected to focus on the reasons behind the losses the company was now expecting at its international operations.
With the shares down by around 40% over the preceding nine months, Stuber told clients: "Trading on 14x PER, the shares remain too cheap in our view (DPZ 27x, DPE 25x) implying no value attributable to its international businesses and no UK growth, despite our 11% EPS CAGR forecast (2018-2022E)."
