FTSE 100 movers: SSE gains on energy business sale talks; Rolls-Royce retreats
London's FTSE 100 was down 0.1% at 7,246.79 in afternoon trade on Monday, with concerns about protests in Hong Kong and Sino-US trade relations weighing on sentiment.
Rolls-Royce was under pressure following reports that small fragments of a Norwegian Boeing 787 Dreamliner fell from the sky as the plane encountered technical trouble and had to make an emergency landing in Rome over the weekend. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner uses Rolls-Royce's Trent 1000 engine.
SSE was in the green as the energy company confirmed it is in talks over the possible sale of its energy services business to rival Ovo Group.
SSE had already said in its preliminary results back in May and its first-quarter trading update in July that it was actively progressing a number of options for the future of the energy services business, which supplies energy and related services to around 5.7m household customers across Great Britain.
