Mars to launch vegan Galaxy bar in UK
Mars is set to launch its vegan version of the classic Galaxy chocolate bar in the UK and fill the gap of vegan milk chocolate.
Mars will be offering three varieties of the new dairy-free chocolate bar, which has been certified by the Vegan Society, including smooth orange, caramel and sea salt and caramelised hazelnut.
The new chocolate bars will go on sale on Monday 18 November at Tesco, Ocado and Amazon.
They will be pricier than regular Galaxy chocolate bars costing £3 for a 100g bar.
The bars will also be eco-friendly and the packaging will be made of compostable film which is also a first for the brand. The packaging will be made from wood fibre that can be composted at home.
Kerry Cavanaugh, marketing director at Mars Wrigley UK, said: “We’re so excited to be bringing these delicious treats to Galaxy’s range using a vegan recipe that doesn’t compromise on the brand’s signature smooth and creamy characteristics.
“Wherever you look you can’t avoid the vegan buzz in the UK. Even though vegan treats are currently only worth £10m in a £4bn chocolate market, we think that by introducing Galaxy, one of the UK’s best-known brands, there is a huge opportunity for the category to grow.”
