London mid-morning: Miners lead the way higher

London consolidates early gains though, not for the first time, mining stocks are largely responsible for the rise of the FTSE 100 index.

Kazakhmys, Antofagasta, Rio Tinto, Anglo American, Xstrata, Randgold Resources and Vedanta Resources lead the mining sector higher as metal prices head north.
