Supermarket giant Tesco has denied reports that its chief executive, Sir Terry Leahy, is set to quit the group as “complete nonsense”.
CityAM, the morning newspaper, reported that Leahy was leaving Tesco in order to take up a role in the private sector, thought to be advising the government on health.
Leahy last night said he had "no plans to move on" adding, “I have plenty to do here at Tesco - it's a wonderful business".
Sir Terry Leahy joined Tesco in 1979, and helped set up the clubcard scheme in the 1990s before eventually taking the top job in 1997.
