James Knowles rejects bid

James R Knowles, the construction consultant, has already seen interest from suitors wanting its departing chairman’s stake, the group said as it rejected a firm offer.

Chairman Roger Knowles said that whilst he cannot be certain at this stage of selling his stake in the firm, interest has already been shown.

The group added that yesterdays conditional offer from Systech Group regarding a potential offer for the group was unacceptable and will therefore be rejected.

“The results of the first four months of 2006 combined with the progress made in restructuring our central costs give me confidence that trading is in line with expectations,” added Knowles.
