1630: A man was crushed by a van after a jack collapsed on Tuesday in Essex. Other three people have been injured by a falling tree in West Sussex.
1530: Boris Johnson was seen on Tuesday afternoon Knightsbridge, central London, where a woman was killed by a falling tree on Tuesday. The Mayor of London said: “My condolences to the family and there should be a full investigation. I am now going to look for myself and talk to the police.
“It is a dreadful thing to happen and looks like a tree with shallow roots,” he said.

14:41 The BBC and other outlets have confirmed the London woman who died earlier was found near Hyde Park Barracks, in Knightsbridge, and not Knightsbridge Barracks as they previously reported.

09:50 A train has broken down en route between London and Norwich, causing significant delays of up to 60 minutes. Another has caused delays for CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, and Northern Rail trains travelling between Sheffield and Derby/Nottingham.
09:45 The UK has braced itself today for wind-speeds of around 70mph as Hurricane Gonzalo blows through from the Atlantic. The Met office has issued a severe weather warning that will last until 6pm Tuesday night. Power cuts have been reported in the South West while Heathrow expects delays and has cut 10% of flights by its 20 biggest carriers.
