Google pays tribute to Loch Ness Monster
This move follows the 81st anniversary of the Loch Monster sighting
Google has dedicated its homepage doodle to the Loch Ness Monster to mark the 81st anniversary of the first sighting.
The doodle honours the story of Colonel Robert Wilson, who is believed to have taken the Loch Ness Monster's first picture back in 1934.
Google has also launched a Loch's Street View map, which allows users to search for pictures the monster.
The company said it receives more searches for Loch Ness than for Buckingham Palace.
To produce the Street View, Google's professionals spent a week collecting images from the Loch with its “Trekker” cameras, that were attached to a boat in order to collect underwater images.
VisitScotland, the Scottish tourism board, said it expected this feature to heighten the profile of Loch Ness and Scotland.
