Under the agreement, Amadeus’ subscribers will be able to access a range of Ryanair’s fares, including the airline’s new Business plus fares, and services via the group’s light ticketing technology, a system which doesn’t require tickets as the content is provided to Amadeus via an XML link.
“Ryanair is pleased to partner with Amadeus whose technology represents a significant opportunity for us to reach a wider range of business and corporate customers,” said Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary.
“With more than 27% of our customers already travelling on business […] and for business travellers and corporations this agreement will mean greater access to our low fares and Europe’s largest route network.”
Under the agreement, business and corporate travellers will have the option to carry a bag of up to 20kg without any extra charges and will also have access to premium seating and priority boarding at airports.
“Ryanair is one of the world’s most successful low fare airlines so we are delighted the airline has seen the value of working with Amadeus to increase its reach, yield and merchandising capabilities,” said Amadeus senior vice president Holger Taubmann.
“Our technology will enable travel agencies to book Ryanair flights easily and seamlessly. For our subscriber partners, this agreement underlines our commitment to continued innovation in order to offer the widest possible range of airline content.”
Low fare airline booking via the Amadeus system rose by 21% in 2013, the company said.
Ryanair shares were up 0.21% to €7.19 while Amadeus shared dropped 0.34% to €28.06 at 11:23 on Wednesday.
