Athens stock market not likely to open this week
Greece's stock market is not likely to re-open this week, the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) has said.
Reports all this week had suggested the stock market could reopen this week, but technical hitches at several domestic banks have hampered efforts to resume activity, a spokeswoman told Reuters.
The ASE has now been closed since 29 June, when the Greek government closed banks and imposed strict limits on cash withdrawals and foreign transfers to prevent a run on deposits by savers and companies.
The spokeswoman said: "The stock market will not open tomorrow (Thursday) and it is unlikely to open on Friday. The Greek banks need to resolve some IT issues regarding the restrictions."
