Greek people to vote in referendum to decide whether to accept bailout terms
Greek citizens will on Sunday cast their vote in the country's bailout referendum that will decide whether or not its government accepts a further rescue loan in exchange for greater austerity measures.
The latest opinion polls indicate that the Greek people are split 50/50 over whether to vote yes or no.
Nearly 9.9m Greeks will have the right to cast their vote in Sunday's ballot, with a high percentage expected to attend the polling stations.
Voting was opened at 07:00 local time on Sunday, with the first results expected the same evening.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, who has already cast his vote, is calling on his country's people to tick "No", saying that would give them the best position to negotiate a better deal with creditors.
He abandoned talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Eurozone finance ministers last weekend, saying the latest set of terms his country is being offered would put it in a situation that would only make the economic situation worse.
The week leading up to the referendum has seen Greece default on its latest repayment due to the IMF, the rationing of cash and bank closures.
